Deer Hunting:

Primarily conducted in So. Maine, which has special coastal archery permits that allow archers to hunt from Sept into Dec.( with additional doe permits to be purchased as needed.) Only one buck is allowed per coastal archery season. These deer are in addition to the normal bow and gun season during October and November. Maine’s muzzle loading occurs at the end of November and into December with capabilities of hunting on snow. Southern Maine terrain consists of old farmstead, oak and beech ridges, cedar swamps, and swales.
Also available are hunts to western Maine, in the Rangeley Lakes Region. The deer per acre is less than that of So. Maine but chances at a 200# buck are much greater as well as are your chances for hunting on snow.
Bucks average 135-180 lbs, Does average 80-125 lbs.
